Learn & Play : French proverb L'hirondelle ne fait pas le printemps

Dear all,

Yesterday was the first Spring day. Yes, it is noted in the calendar but in the facts in New York, we had to fight a new snow storm.... with the hope it is the last one of the season.

In France, we have a common proverb to illustrate this : L'hirondelle ne fait pas le printemps!

Les hirondelles, swallows, are coming back in France after the winter migration to enjoy the warm weather. When we see swallows flying in the air, sure the weather is better...Spring is on its way. But March and April are unstable months with the giboulees de mars, a mix of sun and hail storms.
